SIGHTSEEING

Anatoshi-Iso

This three-holed boulder situated right by the coast line, is the symbol of Ofunato. Not only does this represent nature's strength but it  also resembles the geographical history of the city. There is also a boat ride that runs through the hole which can be reserved at the Goishi Coast Information Center

Koishi-hama Station

A heartful ocean side station that represents love. A little play on word from the original '小石' or 'small rock' to '恋し' meaning 'to love' in order to re-vitalize the area back in 2009. The lined scallop shells containing wishes for love, health, and good luck at the small shrine on the platform is a must see!!

Kyassen Area

At first glance, its nothing more than an outlet mall with several shops and restaurants. But once you understand the history behind this area and the community's will power and strength to stand tall even after the tsunami disaster will help you appreciate this area's liveliness and scenery.

You can also enjoy a stroll by the bay for a breeze of the ocean!
