The Beach opening period in the Kesen area is rather short. Generally, starts during the "海の日" (Umi no hi = Day of the Ocean) holiday and ends about a month later. (For 2022: 7/16 - 8/14) --------Below Information is for 2022-------- Information in regards to the opening of the Swimming Beaches in Ofunato, Iwate. 2 beaches in Ofunato will officially open starting July 16th of 2022 until August 14th, 2022! Ryori Swimming Beach Address: Shirahama, Ryori, Sanriku-cho, Ofunato-shi, Iwate-ken 022-0211 Restroom and Shower available Okirai Nami-ita Swimming Beach Address: 98-2 Okirai Nami-ita, Sanriku-cho, Ofunato-shi, Iwate-ken 022-0101 Restroom and Shower available *Note that Yoshihama Swimming Beach will be CLOSED for swimming throughout the season due to dangerous rocks/drifted objects, unmaintained underwater shoreline, etc.
