News Alert! Dates of Ofunato Goishi Coast Tourism Festival for 2023 have been announced! This is one of the main festivals held in Ofunato to welcome people in and outside of the prefecture to come visit and experience Ofunato! There will be a live stage at the festival which will feature local Folk-Art performances, Brass Band groups and Taiko (Japanese drums) groups from the local high schools, and Ofunato’s city mascot’s dance performance. Additionally, popular artist like Yamada Tamaru and Ofunato born singer-song-writer, LAWBLOW will also be performing!! Aside from the live stage event, there will be a stamp rally event which will take you around spots within Goishi Coast for a chance to win prizes alongside a mini-petting zoo, festival exclusive food stands featuring local specialty gourmet and seafood caught or farmed here in Ofunato. What’s more, during this period the city’s history museum as well as the World’s Camellia Museum will be opening their doors for free! Camellia’s peak blooming season is early spring, and you may be wondering, what camellia is there to see? Have no fear, because this Camellia museum has over 600 different kinds of camellias, including those which have their peak blooming season right around this time!
